Physics allows the description of mathematical relationships that explain how a system changes over time. In generating and analysing biological data, our aim is to derive the principles that drive biological transformations at the cellular and tissue scales. These mathematical relationships then become the virtual engines to animate computational models that are realistic and accurate representations of biological systems. Achieving such computational capability not only advances biological knowledge, but also creates capability to simulate disease states and even test novel ways to diagnose, treat or cure patients.
